The new Midwest Photographers Project portfolio from Paul Clark includes selections from his ongoing Gardens series and the more recently begun Barriers pictures. In Barriers, the patterned plastic and metal of temporary fences fill the frame of each photograph. These devices of division are visually separated from their surroundings by a shallow depth of field that draws attention to the site of these borders as much as to the texture and shape of the physical materials that mark them.
Paul Clark has been awarded the Jurors Award at Photo National (2005), Best Photographic/Digital Work at 27th Baer Exhibition (2003); and Honorable Mention at Rockford Midwestern (2006), 28th Plaza Art Competition (2004), and Exhibition of American Art (2003). Exhibitions of his work have been held at Bell Studio, Chicago; Riverside Art Center, Illinois; Arlington Heights Memorial Library Gallery, Illinois; and Hakett Hall Exhibition Space, Ohio State University, Columbus.
