In this cross-disciplinary series of workshops, Chicago
Public School teachers will deepen their knowledge of American photography in
its artistic and historical contexts. Working with original photographs from
the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s collections and exhibitions,
participants will learn strategies for developing multiple literacies with
their students, and create and implement curriculum connecting the arts to the
Common Core English Language Arts and History/Social Studies Literacy
Standards. Curricular resources, including image sets for classroom use will be
distributed.
Led by Cynthia Weiss, Director of Education, Marwen, and
Corinne Rose, Manager of Education at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at
Columbia College Chicago, this series of workshops is generously funded by the
Terra Foundation for American Art. Teachers are encouraged to attend all four
sessions and will receive a $150.00 stipend for attending. Space is limited! Please
RSVP to Darius Hampton at dhampton@colum.edu to reserve a place in this
workshop series. If you have any questions, please contact Corinne Rose at
