Artists’ Reception: Talkin’ Back: Chicago Youth Respond

Lecture: Robert Heinecken: Rat Pack Surrealist

Artist and writer Mark Alice Durant has written extensively on the nexus of photography, performance and cultural phenomena with essays appearing in journals including Art in America, New Art Examiner, Exposure, ArtUS, and Afterimage. Among his numerous publications, he is the co-author and editor of Robert Heinecken: A Material History (2003) and the author of Blur of the Otherworldly: Contemporary Art, Technology and the Paranormal (2006).

The MoCP and the MCA will together host Vik Muniz, artist and self-described “low-tech illusionist,” whose work is held in the MoCP’s permanent collection and will be on view in the exhibition Exposed: Defining Moments in Photography from the MCA Collection, February 29-July 29, 2007. The Richard and Mary L. Gray Lectures are made possible through a generous gift to the Chicago Contemporary Campaign for the Museum of Contemporary Art.
