The ICE @ MoCP series from the International Contemporary Ensemble continues with the world premiere of a new performance from tubist and master improviser Dan Peck.

As a tubist, Peck is uniquely qualified to understand the bass sounds that surround us all; in his brand new solo show, he traces the symbiotic history of human beings and low sounds. After “discovering” a mysterious tuba among ancient ruins, Peck brings the antiquated instrument to “the lab” where he seeks to unravel its mysteries, leading the audience on an historical dig from pre-civilization to the present day.

About Dan Peck

Dan is a tubist, multi-instrumentalist, and creative artist currently living and working in New York City. He is active as a soloist, improviser, creative performer, composer, and artistic collaborator in a wide variety of settings, having premiered solo tuba works by Robert Sirota, Craig Woodward, and Ignacio Baca-Lobra, with performances at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Merkin Hall, and the Stone. Equally at home in jazz/creative settings as he is in contemporary music, Dan performs with the International Contemporary Ensemble and the traditional jazz band Grandpa Musselman and His Syncopators, and also played with Alarm Will Sound, Second Instrumental Unit, New World Symphony, and the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, among others.

About ICE

The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) was founded in Chicago in 2001, and over the past nine years has established itself as one of the leading musical ensembles of its generation as well as one of the most innovative young arts organizations in the US. Winner of the 2010 Trailblazer Award from the American Music Center and the 2010 ASCAP/CMA Award for Adventurous Programming, ICE has created a pioneering performer/presenter model that sets a bold new standard for the future of music in the 21st century.
