Jin Lee Makes art that references and expands upon two traditions of landscape photography: the scientific record of place and the transcendental possibility of nature. Her studies of shrubbery, trees, and grasses in the Midwest capture turbulent moments in these usually tranquil places, where weather conditions are evidence in the curvature of branches and mysterious hollows carved into foliage by gusts of swirling wind. Jin Lee has a BA from Wellesley College (1983) and an MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
