Four female photographers addressed issues of representation of unfamiliar cultures. Errazuriz examined society outside mainstream Chile by Photographing prostitutes, transvestites, boxers, and wrestlers. Graciela Iturbide documented the women of Juchitan, a town in Mexico on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec--one of the only places where women administer and govern their environment. Maria Martinez-Canas explored her relationship to the land, religion, and history of her native Cuba in highly-charged photo-collages. Sentis photographed the African Diaspora in Brazil.
