With 5:30pm Artist Talk by Cecil McDonald, Jr.

Join us to celebrate the opening of Shift: Music, Meaning, Context. This exhibition explores how music changes meaning when it travels through different geographic, cultural and political contexts. Refreshments will be served, and from 5:30-6pm, exhibiting artist Cecil McDonald, Jr. will discuss his work. 

This exhibition is produced in collaboration between Goethe-Institut Chicago and The Museum of Contemporary Photography, held on-site at the museum.

Cecil McDonald, Jr. is a Chicago-based photographer who studied fashion, house music and dance club culture before receiving his MFA in Photography at Columbia College Chicago, where he currently teaches. In 2016 the first edition of his monograph ‘In the Company of Black’ was published and shortlisted by the Aperture Foundation for the 2017 First PhotoBook Award.
