About The Event

This panel discussion will include exhibiting artists Arianna Arcara and Luca Santese, artist Dawoud Bey, and curator and writer Hamza Walker.

Moderated by MoCP director and exhibition curator Natasha Egan.

Participants will discuss ethical issues related to artists using found materials, including potentially sensitive images and documents, in the creation of their work, like those that comprise Arcara and Santese's project, Found Photos in Detroit, Dawoud Bey is currently Professor of Art and a Distinguished College Artist at Columbia College Chicago and has considered issues of representation in photography. Hamza Walker is a noted essayist and the Associate Curator and Director of Education at The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago.
