About the Exhibition

Our culture is heavily invested in being, or at least looking young. We are accustom to viewing the faces and bodies of an idealized youthful form. Less familiar are the visual realities of the aging body. John Coplans, the founding editor of Art Forum magazine, began photographing his body tightly framed and anonymously by not including his head.
