Pedro Meyer: Truths & Fictions: A Journey from Documentary to Digital Photography

About the Exhibition

A presentation of works created with the advanced technologies of the computer, ink jet printer, and interactive CD-ROM discs by one of Mexico’s most prominent photographers, Pedro Meyer.  Displaying both photographs and CD-ROM computer discs, the exhibition called into question the essential truths and myths surrounding the documentary aesthetic, while also examining the transition of the photographic medium from its photochemical origins to electronic imaging.  His images depicted two diverse cultures:  the United States as viewed through the eye of an outsider and the Mixtec people in Oaxaca, Mexico as viewed through the eye of the artist.  The exhibition included wall labels in English and Spanish.
