X-PRZ: JST BCZ UR PARANOID DNT THNK THYR NT AFTR U (MALCOM X)

About the Exhibition

A multimedia installation of photography, text, video projections, and music produced by the member of X-PRZ, a biracial “art band” comprised of four artists, Doug Anderson (Massachusetts), Kenseth Armstead (New York), Tony Cokes (New York), and Mark Pierson (Massachusetts).  The exhibition consisted of a series of tableaus that reflect on the prehistory and legacy of Malcolm X as well as the recent commodification of Malcolm X in the 1990s.  It also examined and questioned the construction and use of African-American identities and icons in history, society, and the marketplace.
