Heather Owens
Manager of Marketing and Community Engagement
Heather joined the MoCP in early 2023 and manages marketing, publicity, and community engagement for the museum. Prior to working at MoCP, Heather worked for University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Division of the Arts in communications, outreach, programming, and interdisciplinary arts residencies; CU-Boulder in program management and marketing; and for the Art Institute of Chicago’s Evening Associates (EA) board in membership, marketing, and programs. Heather also served on the Art Institute of Chicago’s EA board and the Denver Art Museum’s Asian Art Association and CultureHaus boards. She has volunteered for the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art along with K-5 schools in Chicago and in Colorado. In addition, she has organized over 200 events and has worked in international economic development including meeting with businesses and organizations and hosting delegations. Heather received an MA in art and design from the University of Northern Colorado and a BBA in marketing with a French minor from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Heather also likes to create and make fused glass jewelry, travel and abstract photography, and digital art, including from crystals. She enjoys attending a wide range of arts events, exploring and traveling locally to internationally, completing jigsaw puzzles, and reading.
